“Having just retuned from a week staying at the Old Ambulance House, we were disappointed.”

The place is very tired and needs an overhaul- it’s hard to believe that it’s only been 3 years since it was renovated. The overall cleanliness of the place wasn’t great, cobwebs all over that were heavy in dust so weren’t new! The flooring to the ground floor is opening up and chipped and in places feels like it’s falling away. The beds are incredibly low to the floor and all mattresses are uncomfortable and thin. Everything creaks in the place, floor, landing, doors, beds. The upstairs shower has a note on it saying it leaks, so we didn’t even attempt to use it and just used the downstairs one - which wasn’t ideal with two teenagers, and is also in need of renovation/deep cleaning. First time I used the downstairs sink the plug stuck and I took me about five minutes to get it to release. We left early, as couldn’t face one more night with the uncomfortable sleep (would have left a couple of days earlier but had already made plans).

Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. Our goal is to give all of our guests the best possible stay. As our previous reviews show. We still however address any issues raised no matter how big or small. The property was in fact finished 4 years ago and has been 95% booked since then with happy holiday makers. Due to this success we’ve had to manually make the house unavailable for December this year to give us a chance to spruce it up. The shower is one of the jobs to be done. It was completely usable for your stay and as the polite note stated, it only leaks if left unattended spraying water onto the cubicle door. This has been the same for nearly a year and has been happily used by all previous guests without any issues. The beds are a little lower as this is to stop guests hitting their heads as they sit up in bed due to low vaulted ceilings in the upstairs bedrooms. The mattresses were replaced this year. They were highly recommended (and the thickest option available) but from experience there is no one mattress that can please every one although most guests state they are comfortable. As for the cleaning I do find that hard to accept as it is cleaned by myself, my wife and our daughter on every change over. Although, the kitchen/dining area did have to have a deep clean after the condition you had left it in. As for the cobwebs, I personally went around the whole house cleaning these from the ceilings and walls a week ago. The house is very rural and we get a lot of spiders this time of year coming in and we do address this. We are sorry that you couldn’t find any positives during your stay as all of our previous guests have Property Owner
