“First impressions, the lodge was amazing very clean, spacious and had everything you would need for a relaxing self catering holiday.”
Owners had even left a lovely welcome pack, which was a lovely addition. However unfortunately just before our arrival the glass gate to the lodge had been broken in high winds but nothing was done to secure the sharp damaged edges, and this was dangerous, and was unable to secure the gate closed, so was constantly banging open. The listing advertised that there was lots of activities such as swimming, gym, golf, amusements, crazy golf, funfair, and plenty of places to eat on the resort side ...
The listing advertised that there was lots of activities such as swimming, gym, golf, amusements, crazy golf, funfair, and plenty of places to eat on the resort side of the accommodation. Although owners had left a lovely folder with these places in, however, this was very our of date (Post covid), one of the eateries had even closed down, there were no timings for the golf or how to book (this would have been very helpful considering we were based right on the golf course), no golf shop opening times or information on opening times of other activities.
In the listing it would be helpful to note that golfers are required to bring their own golf clubs, golf course attire and how to book teeing off times, as there was no way of knowing any of this. Also to note that car parks are payable and not free although they are based on the resort, these are all a completely separate company and nothing to do with the resort, and due to construction work all around the signs were easily missed, as these are not clearly visable. If driving around the resort there are barriers everywhere with keypads, so we thought that the code given was for all barriers, this is not the case, the resort reception note your car registration and this should recognise your number plate, however, the barriers are very temperamental and do not always open, making large queues to enter anywhere.
Resort website was also outdated, no mention of large construction work being undertaken around the theme park area which also included the swimming pool, gym and funfair and crazy golf etc was all closed due to this, it didn't note when it would be opening. We went the last few days of March to beginning of April and there was no mention of activities not being open. Resort reception staff were unhelpful as they didn't know any information regarding the park facilities, such as eateries and where to locate them, opening times and booking for the swimming pool, they weren't sure if it was even open. Other park staff also very rude and everything was too much trouble.
If you have visited the resort before and you knew how to navigate everything you will be fine. If you are new, then expect to drive everywhere as the resort is obviously expanding and places are very spread out. Even the reception area is far away from anything and no clear signage to where to locate anything.
Thank you very much for your very helpful feedback.
We forwarded your remarks to Unity, which has been taken over, and hopefully will be improved as soon as possible.
I'm sorry to hear the staff were rude that is unacceptable.
The gate has been replaced and the out of date information removed.
We try our best to make your stay, in our privately owned lodge, as comfortable as we can and always grateful for your input. Many thanks.
