Postbridge lies in the centre of Dartmoor between Moretonhampstead and Two Bridges, next to the East Dart River. It is an idyllic place to uncover Dartmoor's archaeology and showcases one of the finest clapper bridges in the country, believed to date back to medieval times and would probably have replaced stepping stones to assist packhorses cross the babbling river. Well positioned to enjoy an array of activities, Postbridge boasts fantastic walking and cycling routes in nearby Bellever Forest, as well as several archaeological remains including roundhouses, stone rows and a burial cyst. From here, you can also visit the remains of a 19th- century gunpowder factory known as Powdermills, which produced gunpowder for the local quarries and mines.
