“We had a lovely stay in Budmouth.”

The accommodation was very comfortable and just how the pictures showed it to be. Although the weather wasn’t kind to us, we had great trips to Lyme Regis, Lolworth Cove, Durdle Dor and Corfe Castle. Weymouth town was very run down sadly, but the harbour area was good and we had a great meal in the Ship Inn. We had morning coffee in the garden centre in Upwey each morning which was great, fab home made cakes and sausage rolls. Two lovely meals in the Royal Standard pub. Everyone one was so ...

Everyone one was so lovely and we got chatting to several local residents. Everywhere was so dog friendly, our little Shihtzu was welcomed everywhere apart from National Trust properties. The only gripe we had was when we stripped the bed upstairs, when departing, the mattress cover and pillow protectors were very stained. Apart from that it was a very clean accommodation.

“We had a very comfortable stay the cottage is amazing and the grounds are beautiful, its in a perfect spot and we loved the fact it was so quiet and and the cottage offered everything we needed.”

It was perfectly situated, a 9 minute drive to the beach and town. I would definitely recommend a visit. I am planning on visiting again with the rest of my family, regularly. The evening visit from the deer was a nice surprise.

“We had a problem with the cooker ring staying on.”

We contacted the accommodation management team and they came and tested everything. To check it was functioning correctly to manufacturers standards and we had no more issues with it. Thank you for their prompt attendance. We loved the cottage, its location, and the easy access by car to places of interest. We would come back and stay again in the future.

“Budmouth was a well equipped and on the whole well designed and comfortable unit.”

It is in attractive surroundings and has easy access to many areas. I couldn't alter the heat control on the shower and when reported it was promptly attended to. Just one or two things missing; egg cups and a kitchen spray to clean the surfaces during our stay. We enjoyed our stay, it was a good stay,

“Generally nice tranquil stay but you have a serious ANT problem!”

!! Kitchen was crawling with them, in cupboards, fridge and even getting into the kettle. You seriously need to sort this, had to buy containers for our food to safeguard. Otherwise nice place to stay, it's a bit out the way so you will need a car but walk to Upwey stn only 25 mins away.

“What a great place to stay, we really enjoyed our week.”

A great base to get to many local attractions. We tended to go out in the daytime and stayed in on the evening. The only small thing we would say for us is that the frying pan was scratched and not stable on the cooker and no medium size pans for cooking.

Manor Farm cottages never fail us, lovely clean and comfortable. Everything you need was provided, good information pack. The beds are very comfortable. “The property has super potential and is in a great location for visiting the local area and all it has to offer.”

The standard of the equipment provided left a little bit to be desired. No colander in the kitchen, and an airer of some description would have been handy. Our main issue however was with the cleanliness of the property. On arrival we noticed that the bedding in the double bed was filthy, with dirt all over the duvet cover. To their credit, the staff and cleaning team went out of their way to deal with this, but this just shouldn’t happen. As the week went on it became clearer and clearer that the property had just not been cleaned thoroughly either between stays or in terms of longer term cleanliness and house keeping. The standard was just not acceptable. When you are paying the kind of money that Sykes charge, and the mark up for ‘management’ of the booking is getting higher and higher, and given that check out times are earlier and check in times continue to be much later in the day than pre covid, there really is no excuse for a poor standard of cleanliness. Must try harder !

“The marketing images of the property do not demonstrate the poor wear and tear or cleanliness of the property.”

When we arrived to the property on the outset it looked lovely however this soon changed upon entering the property. Whilst the property hadn’t been cleaned, the dirt and grime wasn’t just from one missed cleaning this had been built up over time from a lack of thorough cleaning. The internal walls, roller blinds, picture frames, windows, shower, outside table and chairs were filthy dirty with stains, dust, dirt cobwebs or dirty hand marks. The internal doors were pealing and some had chunks missing, curtain in living room had holes, sofa cushions and sofa had food stains, kitchen cupboards were worn and starting to peal at the bottom the outdoor furniture was dirty, rusty and covered in bird poo. Thankfully, I had taken my own cleaning stuff, blankets to cover the sofas, pillow cases etc. We also had wonderful weather so we spent most of our time at the beach. Since returning home I raised the issue with the owner who apologised and assured me that she would put things right, so hopefully future customers don’t have same experience.

“This was my second visit to Budmouth and I have a third visit booked in September 2021.”

I think the property is looking a little tired. The towels and tea towels plus pillows and crockery especially the mugs could do with looking at and there was a suspicious stain in the downstairs bedroom which could have come from the upstairs shower room. Having said this I would still recommend this beautiful little haven and look forward to my return again later in the year.

Lovely accommodation. The area has poor to zero 4G reception and the internet is slow and intermittent compared with where we live. Freeview is limited to basic channels. OK if you want a peaceful tech-free holiday (which is not a problem of course) but even looking up attractions or routes means going back to a paper based system of brochures and maps. You need to be prepared for that.

It is well maintained and has everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. Just one downside - if the weather is warm then the main bedroom upstairs gets extremely warm and can make sleeping difficult in our experience. There was ample car parking and very pleasant grounds. There were a couple of pubs and the Wey wishing well all well within 20 mins walking distance. Weymouth itself is a short car journey but we stayed off season which made quite a difference. This group of cottages is well worth considering if visiting the Weymouth area.

The property

Budmouth is a superb semi-detached cottage, one of five on-site, on the outskirts of Upwey and 3.5 miles from Weymouth in Dorset.

This wonderful cottage is set mostly on the ground floor and has a zip/link king-size double, a bathroom and an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area, along with a mezzanine double with en-suite shower on the first floor.

Outside there's off road parking for one car, a private patio with furniture and a shared hillside garden with picnic benches.

Budmouth is a quality holiday home for exploring Dorset.

North Manor Meadow Cottages

The picturesque village of Upwey lies just four miles north of Weymouth, nestling beneath the Dorset Ridgeway, and takes its name from the shallow chalk stream, the River Wey, which bubbles up here from an underground spring. Upwey is well-known for its Wishing Well, where George III once sought the benefits of the natural spring water. It is now a delightful tea room, serving lunches and traditional cream teas. There are a number of footpaths leading directly from the village to miles of unspoilt countryside, and close by is the market town of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s ’Casterbridge’. An easy drive or bus ride takes you to the popular seaside resort of Weymouth offering visitors glorious golden sandy beaches, excellent watersports facilities and a bustling harbour.
