    “It was a lovely welcome, all the treats and the milk waiting for us after a long journey.”

    The flat is compact, and filled with seaside delights. We found the bed very comfortable, and there was everything you needed to produce a 4 course meal! We always eat out on holiday, so didn't take advantage of all well equipped kitchen, which includes an air fryer. Just one or two things stopped us from giving 5 stars. The bathroom, again, well equipped took a long time to demist. Due in part to the dusty extractor fan. Amazing lighting in the bathroom though - showed every wrinkle and ...

Seriously, was very good for putting on make up etc. The steps from the car park are quite difficult particularly if you have any mobility issues. The flat was cozy, if a little dark. Reading was difficult even with the additional lighting - that could of course be age and eyesight! It is a great location, so close to everything. The hosts seem to have taken a lot of thought as to what to include in the flat, ( eg pens, decaff tea, tissues,) and that was much appreciated.

The Compass is a lovely retreat nestled in the heart of Swanage, at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast.

It boasts a double bedroom, with a pull-out bed for those travelling with a child, sleeping up to three people in total.

There is also a shower room inside, as well as an open-plan living room with a kitchen, dining area and sitting area.

To the exterior is a designated dining space giving you the option of eating alfresco style, along with an off-road parking space for one car.

The Compass is a homely getaway placed in a wonderful UK holiday destination.

Wareham 9.7 miles; Poole 20 miles.

The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks. This truly is a delightful holiday destination at any time of the year.
