    “When booking a holiday, we were looking for somewhere private, relaxing, with pretty scenery, that was close to things to do/places to see - somewhere that felt a world away from the busy city lives that we’re used to.”

    We found that the Under Oak Pod fitted the brief perfectly - we had the best time. The Pod itself is situated at the bottom of a track - further down from the main camping site. This made it feel even more private, which was nice. Inside, the Pod was spotless. The bed was comfy, the shower was hot, and everything was available that we needed for self-catering. Thought has gone into the matching decor inside - the grey/yellow and sheep theme is a nice touch. On sheep, they make nice ...

Thought has gone into the matching decor inside - the grey/yellow and sheep theme is a nice touch. On sheep, they make nice neighbours and we liked watching them coming up to the fence on sunny evenings. There was herd of white cattle too, and they formed part of the scenic countryside view that we enjoyed looking out on. We admired the view and the summer evenings from the hot tub, which worked perfectly. The temperature was spot on and it was easy to use. A hot tub was a prerequisite for us when choosing a place to stay, and the Under Oak’s was great. One thing that struck us was just how peaceful it all was. We were blessed with good weather, and sitting outside the Pod in the sun with a morning coffee was just total relaxation. Also outside, we had dinners, cooked on a barbecue down by the fire-pit area, and, on one still evening, we even played a board game. It was perfect. Location wise, the Under Oak Pod is great too. It is in driving distance of pretty much anywhere that you’d like to go in the area for a day-trip - in our case, Torquay, Paignton, Salcombe, and of course Totnes - which is a worthwhile fifteen minute journey for one-off gift and book shops, fudge, and a cheese shop. We found the owners to be extremely welcoming and hospitable. The hard work that they have put into the Under Oak Pod is shown by just how wonderful it is. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic, relaxing getaway, with the opportunity to explore or to just unwind within Devon’s beautiful countryside.

Under Oak Pod is a pet-friendly retreat set on a working farm near Diptford, Devon, offering sweeping views of the picturesque South Hams countryside.

Perfect for couples or small families seeking a peaceful rural escape, the pod is ideally located between Dartmoor and the vibrant market town of Totnes, with plenty to explore nearby, or simply unwind in the private hot tub and soak in the tranquil surroundings.

Upon arrival, you’ll pass contented livestock grazing in the fields before parking beside your pod.

A sloped path leads past the electric hot tub to your private deck, complete with an outdoor dining area, which boasts glimpses of Dartmoor, ideal for sunset meals or evening drinks.

A separate firepit area with additional seating offers another spot to chill.

Inside, the pod features a welcoming living space with a sofa bed (suitable for a child under 12), a dining area, and a compact kitchen equipped with a fridge-freezer, two-ring induction hob, and a microwave combi oven.

The king-size bed, made with natural fibres, is perfectly positioned to enjoy views of the oak tree and, on clear nights, the starry sky.

The modern shower room includes a vanity and WC.

Dog owners will appreciate the dog exercise paddock next to the pod, due to the proximity of livestock dogs must be kept on a lead while on site.

If you fancy dining out, the popular Turtley Corn Mill is just 2.5 miles away, and Totnes offers a variety of restaurants and cafés.

For day trips, hike to Ugborough Beacon for panoramic views, visit the historic Totnes Castle, or enjoy family fun at Woodlands Theme Park.
