“We had a lovely stay with our two dogs.”

The cottage had everything possibly we needed. It was my error not realising there wasn’t a back door to the garden but we got used to going out every time with the dogs. I’d probably say a gate across stairs would be handy to protect the furniture upstairs , luckily my dogs are crate trained so they didn’t venture up. Everything else was lush. Thankyou

“Cottage was slightly tricky to access on arrival but delightful inside, very comfortable, well fitted out and handy for the charming pub opposite.”

A recent listing, owners were still preparing the welcome pack but were happy to provide info and answer questions that arose. We missed a microwave as we were not used to an air fryer and would have liked to be able to dry our wet clothes after walking on the moors but our feedback was well received and I'm sure omissions will be rectified. The Walkhampton Inn was welcoming and served delicious pub-type food. Not essential to book but advisable as they normally stop serving food after 8pm and sometimes are extremely busy. Lovely location for a break - highly recommend.

Thank you for your feedback, I’m so glad you reached out with your questions and feedback. You’ll be pleased to know that we have now installed the hand rail on the stairs, fixed the light, put up an airer on the door in the second bedroom and the guest book is now written and available for all future guests….and we are taking the microwave down in a couple of weeks :-). “Lovely cottage, very well updated and equipped.”

Unfortunately, because there were no instructions to anything we struggled working air fryer, oven heating and t. v. Bed in main bedroom was really comfortable with lovely bedding and decoration. The bathroom needs a heated towel rail and the stairs need a rail at the top for safety. I didn't see a carbon monoxide detector either, but perhaps this was part of the technology we couldn't work! The most disappointing part was the state of the access to Back Cottage. Neighbour obviously uses it to store unwanted items and rubbish. Lastly the back garden which was unkempt and had a dog pooh amongst the overgrown grass. Locals were really friendly.

Thank you for your kind feedback, and we are so sorry that we didn’t provide the instructions for the electrical appliances in a clearly accessible place. We will put together a folder for future guests, and we thank you for bringing it to our attention. You are quite right about the banister at the top of the stairs, we bought the house recently and are working to try to get all these extras sorted - we have recently carpeted the stairs and the banister is next on the list and we hope to have it completed by the end of October. We are very sorry about your experience of the back garden, we have now been able to engage a gardener as we realised that in the summer we can't keep on top of it in between guests. In addition, we are ordering a sign to go up in the garden to remind guests to pick up after their furry friends. We hope that, apart from these areas, you still managed to enjoy your stay and that you loved the area as much as we do! Property Owner

Tavistock 5.7 miles; Plymouth 9.5 miles; Salcombe 21.9 miles

The pretty village of Yelverton makes a perfect base for exploring Dartmoor with excellent walking and cycling routes in the area. The 21 mile-long cycling and walking route Drakes trail, runs through the village and links nearby Tavistock and Plymouth passing through wooded valleys and open moorland. It is also possible to hire bikes in the village. There are several eating places around Yelverton including The Drake Manor Inn and The Royal Oak which provide a warm welcome and superb locally sourced food. Nearby attractions include Buckland Abbey, The Garden House and Burrator Reservoir. The South Devon coast is within easy reach for day trips to Salcombe and the pretty riverside village of Newton Ferrers. The Naval port of Plymouth can also be easily reached, famous for its maritime heritage and the historic Barbican district its narrow, cobbled streets lined with a fine selection of restaurants and bars.
