    “We have just returned from a wonderful week at Monkleigh Mill and can honestly say it exceeded our expectations.”

    From the moment we arrived, Julia and Paul made us feel incredibly welcome. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to recommend places to visit throughout our stay, which helped us make the most of our time exploring North Devon. The welcome treats were a lovely touch and much appreciated after our journey – delicious cheese and crackers along with fresh local apple juice waiting for us on arrival. The mill itself is absolutely stunning. It is beautifully presented, full of character, spotlessly clean, and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The hot tub was fantastic and quickly became one of our favourite parts of the holiday. Sitting in the warm water in the evening, surrounded by the peace and quiet of the countryside, while looking up at the stars was simply magical. We visited Westward Ho!, Barnstaple, Instow and Bideford during our stay, all of which were within easy reach and offered plenty to see and do. The mill is situated in a lovely rural location, and while some of the surrounding roads are typical narrow country lanes, we never found this to be a problem and felt it only added to the charm and tranquillity of the setting. Monkleigh Mill provided the perfect balance of peaceful countryside relaxation and easy access to the many attractions North Devon has to offer. We have had a truly relaxing and enjoyable week and would like to thank Julia and Paul for their wonderful hospitality. We would highly recommend Monkleigh Mill to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable and memorable getaway, and we would happily return in the future.

With a private, enclosed courtyard, and situated within close proximity to a plethora of attractions and amenities, Monkleigh Mill welcomes four guests and is idyllic for countryside getaway.

Inside, a well-thought-out living space offers everything you need for self-catered stay, including a fully-fitted kitchen, a dining area where you can enjoy home-cooked meals whilst catching up on the day’s events, and a first-floor sitting room where you and your loved ones can curl up around the woodburning stove whilst watching a film on the Smart TV.

As night approaches, retire to one of two plush double bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom where you can relax and unwind whilst taking a hot bubble bath, the perfect way to end a long day.

Take time to explore your surroundings by paying a visit to The Bell Inn or The Crealock Arms for a pint or some pub grub.

The historic port town of Bideford is close by, where you can spend time walking through the Northam Burrows Country Park or the Kenwith Valley Nature Reserve or take a short detour to The Gnome Reserve and Wildflower Garden for truly, unique day out.

Bude is accessible by car, home to the historical landmark of Compass Point, a viewpoint serving up spectacular views of the Devonshire coastline or stop by the Bude Sea Pool if you fancy a bit of paddleboarding.

Further afield, stop off at the North Devon Coast nature reserve on your way to the nearby town of Woolacombe, where the beaches of Woolacombe and Barricane await eager tourists looking to spend a day basking in the sun.

Bideford is an historic maritime town on the River Torridge in North Devon. There has been a settlement at Bideford for over a thousand years and it has been an important port throughout its history. Today, Bideford is a thriving town with a fine selection of shops (including individual shops), cafes and restaurants, a park and the Atlantic Village Outlet Shopping Centre located on the outskirts of the town. Bideford is in a fantastic location to explore the surrounding area. It is just a few miles from Westward Ho!, which is dominated by two miles of spectacular coastline and proudly retains the prestigious Blue Flag award year upon year. Its sandy beach, backed by a unique pebble ridge, attracts visitors from all over the country and offers fantastic bathing and watersport activities. Just beyond the pebble ridge is Northam Burrows Country Park, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has 253 hectares of grassy coastal plain with salt marsh, sand dunes and grasslands. The country park is also home to England's oldest golf course. The South West Coastal Path and the famous traffic-free Tarka Trail are close by, providing magnificent walking and cycling opportunities. The award-winning Big Sheep all weather family attraction and the Ultimate Adventure Centre are approximately a mile down the road, with the Atlantic Village Outlet Shopping Centre and Supermarket a couple of miles away. The delightful quayside village of Appledore and the pretty beach at Instow are both just over three miles away, whilst the traditional market town of Barnstaple is just ten miles away, and the picturesque fishing village of Clovelly, with its quaint cobbled streets, is eleven miles away. The North Devon coast also boasts numerous outstanding beaches, many within easy reach, including those found at Instow, Saunton Sands, Croyde, Woolacombe and Bude.
