“My wife and I recently stayed in the above cottage.”
Unfortunately, although Meadow View is a lovely cottage, it now seems, in parts, a little tired, with a few problems as described below:
The major issue is the parking space. Potential customers should be warned that this is only suitable for a small hatchback or similar. I drive a Nissan X‑Trail and could only park in the space by first reversing into the lane opposite to obtain a better approach angle. Furthermore, as the front door opens outwards, a gap of approximately 1 metre has to be left clear in front of the car.
Living room
The flooring in front of the door into the kitchen has split and lifted and appears to have been stuck down with tape.
The plastic wall corner protector alongside this damaged flooring is loose due to missing screws, which I found on the floor.
Kitchen
The kitchen has a high‑spec American‑style Haier fridge freezer, but the door seals have split from the doors.
The kitchen scissors fell apart because the hinge screw had rusted through.
Utility
The washing machine is rusty.
Garden
The steps from the back door up to the patio would benefit from weeding and can be slippery when wet.
The barbecue is heavily rusted and unfit for use.
The plant pots contain mainly weeds and dead or dying plants.
The lack of a guard rail on the terrace edge is a potential health and safety risk, which may have serious consequences for a child or elderly person.
Most of the garden furniture is locked in the summer house, but no key is available for it.
Individually, most of these issues are minor, but collectively they may indicate a lack of attention to detail and a need for an upgrade.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback – we really appreciate your comments.
Many guests choose to reverse onto the driveway, and we’ve found that this works well even for larger vehicles. For clarity, we’ve now updated the website to read: off-road parking for one car, up to the size of an SUV.
We’re planning to arrange for the living room flooring to be properly resolved during a quieter period between bookings. In the meantime, it has been securely fixed in place with visible tape to ensure it’s safe and prevents any risk of trips.
We’ll be visiting the property this weekend and will check a few items you’ve mentioned, including the plastic wall corner protector, the fridge/freezer seals (as the appliance is new), and the washing machine. There is a note in place asking guests to leave the washing machine door open after use to help keep it fresh, but we’ll make sure everything is working as it should.
The kitchen scissors will be replaced—thank you for flagging this.
We’re pleased to let you know the gardener has recently attended the property. The pathway and steps have been weeded, tubs and pots replanted, and the BBQ cleaned.
There should be a key for the summer house on the key ring, and we’ll double-check this during our visit. We’ll also make sure the garden furniture is out and ready for guests, if it hasn’t already been put in place.
Thank you again for your helpful feedback—it really helps us keep the property in great shape for future guests.
