The property

Just a few steps from the water's edge in the charming estuary village of Lympstone, Alongside offers a unique dog-friendly coastal retreat for two.

Nestled beside the historic Peter's Tower, this characterful cottage is arranged over three floors and enjoys beautiful waterside views throughout.

With the beach quite literally on your doorstep, it's the perfect base for relaxing escapes on Devon's stunning Exe Estuary.

Enter through the stable door into the well-equipped kitchen, complete with a traditional Butler's sink, full-size fridge freezer and dishwasher, this floor also features a convenient utility cupboard and separate WC.

Start your day with a morning coffee on the shoreline as the boats drift by and the tide ebbs and flows just moments away.

Upstairs, the first-floor living room enjoys triple-aspect views, creating a bright and welcoming space to relax after a day exploring the South Devon coast.

Watch the activity on the water, settle in with a film on the TV, or make use of the desk if work calls during your stay.

The second floor is home to a thoughtfully designed double bedroom tucked into the original eaves of the cottage, compact yet comfortable, it enjoys further estuary views and is served by a modern shower room.

One well-behaved dog is welcome, making Alongside an excellent choice for couples looking to enjoy coastal walks together.

The village pub, shop and train station are all within easy walking distance, while parking is available nearby in the village car park.

Nestled on the eastern shore of the stunning Exe Estuary, Lympstone is a picturesque Devon village with a rich heritage in maritime trade, shipbuilding, and farming, although its roots are ancient, today the village boasts a vibrant, bustling community centred around the harbour, foreshore, pub, shop, café and art gallery.

It’s also part of the Exe Estuary Trail - the estuary is a nature lovers paradise recognised globally for its significant wildlife and habitats.

Lympstone is recognisable by its waterfront clock tower built in the 19th century by W.H Peters as a memorial to his beloved wife, Peters also built several fishermen’s cottages in the village that still line the water today.

As the estuary is tidal the landscape constantly changes, at high tide there’s boating, paddle boarding, fishing and swimming and at low tide walking, rock pooling or crabbing from the harbour wall.

Whatever the tide, you’ll find people birdwatching, painting, photographing or simply enjoying the exceptional west-facing views across the estuary with its ever-changing colours and textures.

Local attractions include the Exe Estuary Cyle trail, the traditional seaside town of Exmouth, Orcombe Point, Darts Farm, the ancient port town of Tophsam, and the historic city of Exeter.

Whether you're seeking peaceful waterside relaxation, scenic walks, or easy access to Exeter and the Devon coast by train, Alongside provides a charming and memorable base for your next getaway.
