very close (less than half mile) to crockletts beach and the lovely huge grass area that is summerleaze downs, and just abit further to the main beach, Summerleaze, the beaches are amazing. Bude is a lovely little town with so much to offer and very well looked after. we were impressed! very spacious house with a secure good sized grassy back garden and private parking on the driveway. great to have a toilet/cloakroom/utility room with an extra shower downstairs. very helpful having an outside tap and hosepipe to wash the sandy/muddy dog although the hose attachment leaked badly. few minor housekeeping issues that we reported were dealt with immediately. there are a couple of maintenance issues that need addressing: the upstairs shower is great but the water is far too hot and the temperature control knob wont move so cannot be made cooler. the water could potentially scald young children and those with vulnerable skin. the back door (into the garden) needs looking at urgently as when it rains water leaks into the hall, alot of water, not just a trickle. it soaked the doormat and looks like it has been happening quite awhile as the hard wooden floor is black and marked and there is a strong smell of damp in the nearby understairs cupboard where the water has probably leaked under the floor. it even smells of damp in the adjacent cloakroom/utility. these issues didn't affect the enjoyment of staying at Awel-y-mor and we highly recommend it!

Thank you for your detailed feedback and kind words about the house and location. We really appreciate you highlighting the maintenance issues. We wanted to let you know that we drove to Bude during the storm on Tuesday to inspect the back door, as a leaking door is a serious concern. The tap has been lubricated, and the hose will be repaired during this year’s maintenance schedule. We’ll also ensure the shower temperature control and damp smell are addressed promptly. Your comments help us keep the property in great condition, and we’re delighted you enjoyed your stay at Awel-y-Mor. Property Owner

About the location

BUDE

Tintagel 17 miles.

Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.

Note: Zip link room is set up as a twin by default, please contact the owners in advance should you wish this room to be set up as a super king double.
