“A really great place to stay.”

Fantastic, quiet location tucked just off St Marychurch precinct. The bedrooms are both large with comfortable beds. The bathroom is also a good size with a great shower. Kitchen and lounge are great. Parking is a bonus but use the car cover provided, otherwise you'll need to get your car washed after the birds have done their business. (Car wash in Lymington Road is recommended!) My only gripe would be only having one door key. This made it tricky to coordinate when not everyone wanted to ...

“We found Hocking cottage to be cosy, clean, comfortable and well appointed.”

It was a bonus having a parking space which was not too far away. A downside was the lack of outside space attached to the cottage for our dogs to be ‘let loose’ although in one of the photos it looks like there is a courtyard, however, this is a private garden area for a different property and gated. The cottage was very well situated being adjacent to the main village precinct which had independent shops, such as bakers, butchers and fishmongers and small supermarkets very close by. There were also a few nice coffee shops and bars. It was also a short drive into Torquay and the rest of Torbay could be easily reached.

“Small and cosy cottage set just off a busy shopping street with everything you could need close to hand including a lovely café 1 minute from the front door that served the most delicious breakfasts .”

Being off the street meant it was nice and quiet. Very comfortable beds with great black out curtains resulting in very good sleeps. Sofa was comfortable as well. The kitchen was well supplied with enough crockery and cutlery for the two of us. We enjoyed our holiday a lot thank you

“There were a couple of things .”

1 the cooker oven had not been cleaned. 2 when it rained it sounded like water was welling up between the wall.

“When we arrived at the property it unfortunately hadn’t been cleaned from the last occupants.”

This was disappointing as we had had a long journey with a toddler in tow. I informed the owners and this was put right straight away and the cleaners arrived within the hour to clean and make the beds up. Apart from this we had a lovely stay and we felt the cottage was well equipped with everything we needed.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and I’m really sorry the cottage hadn’t been cleaned when you arrived. I completely understand how disappointing that must have been, especially after a long journey with a toddler in tow. We’ve recently changed cleaning companies, and unfortunately there was a miscommunication on their part which meant they didn’t turn up as scheduled. We’ve since spoken with them directly to understand what went wrong, and we’ve also changed the way we arrange and confirm all future cleans to make absolutely sure this doesn’t happen again. That said, I’m really pleased to hear that things were sorted quickly and even more so that you had a lovely stay overall and found the cottage well equipped with everything you needed. “Hocking Cottage is beautiful .”

My husband myself and 8 year old grandson stayed for a long weekend ,the Cottage has everything you might need and is very comfortable. Right outside the cottage there is so many shops to choose from so close to many attractions. Well worth a stay.we will be back. The Cottle family.

“This is a gorgeous little cottage on a lovely little high street.”

It is convenient for local attractions and a regular bus service to all parts. The facilities in the cottage are ideal and a big touch is TV in both bedrooms if you are travelling with children. Sally was very helpful and a nice touch was the milk in the fridge along with donuts and cookies on arrival. I highly recommend this cottage.

Idyllically settled along the South Devon Coast, with easy access to the popular destinations of Torquay and Babbacombe Bay is the delightful suburb of St Marychurch.
