“Pebble lodge could be a very beautiful home, unfortunately for us the second we stepped in the door the smell of stale cigarettes hit you in the face.”

We had put on our booking that there was 6 of us in our party, we found that the room with the day bed and pull out bed had no bedding. Two of my children had to sleep on the mattress protectors that was on both mattress with what I can only describe as a paper thin duvet that are both covered in stains on top of them. The cobwebs in all the rooms had cobwebs on top of them! The thick layers of dust, dirt, empty packets that were under the units and sofas was disgusting. There is clearly a leak ...

There is clearly a leak from the upstairs bathroom into the below bedroom which smells of damp. The toaster had a family of live slugs living underneath it and the downstairs shower had a family of beetles!! The washing machine leaked all over the kitchen floor on the first use because the filter was so blocked and the thick layer of dirt around the rubber of the door was vile, along with the mould that had accumulated on the front of the machine. Only bonus was the kitchen floor had a wash! I really don’t think this, what could be a stunning property has been cleaned properly for a very long time! It needs some serious maintenance and a massive deep clean, the views from the house are stunning it’s just a shame the cleaners and maintenance are massively letting it down otherwise I would definitely stay there again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear about the experience you had at Pebble Lodge, and I completely understand how disappointing this must have been for you and your family. What you’ve described falls far below the standards we expect for the property, and I want to assure you that your comments have been taken extremely seriously. The issues you raised — including the smell of smoke, missing bedding, cleanliness concerns, and maintenance problems — are unacceptable, and if you had raised them during your stay we would have taken immediate steps to rectify them as best we could. The comments about smoking deeply concerned us as the property is a no smoking property and all guests are made aware of this. Since receiving your review, we have: Arranged a full deep clean of the entire property Revised our process for bedding for the day bed – we had left bedding out for you to use which it sounds like you missed. Some guests prefer to use this as a sofa bed – in future we will ensure the bed is fully made up Brought in our maintenance team to investigate and repair the leak you mentioned Serviced and cleaned the washing machine and kitchen appliances Reviewed our cleaning procedures with the team to prevent a repeat of the cleanliness issues you encountered Pebble Lodge is a property we take pride in, and it’s clear that on this occasion we fell short. I’m grateful that you highlighted the potential of the home and the beautiful views, and I hope that with the improvements now in place, we can restore confidence in the experience we aim to provide for future guests.
