“Dairy cottage looked fabulous on the pictures and we were really looking forward to our holiday, but on arrival the house wasnt quite upto expectations.”

The house was clean but just felt like it hasnt had a deep clean in a while, there were dirty pots in the cupboards, broken window stays, bulbs out in light fittings and out of date food in the cupboards. The downstairs toilet was constantly topping up as the syphon is faulty. There were holes in the ceiling and the wall in the second bedroom due to a leak which were werent told about and the welcome pack is well out of date, the mattress in the second room rock hard. We have stayed in a few Sykes properties this is the first where it felt like someone had packed there clothes and left for the week whilst we stayed in there house there were a lot of personel items down stairs. The house has been done very nicely and we had a great time i just feel it could do with a refresh to bring it back upto the standard of the advertising pictures.

The property

… hidden from the street that winds up into the heart of Chagford, a luxurious bolthole, just 300 yards from the little town square with its excellent pubs and shops.

The cottage has been completely refurbished with great style, creating a calm and relaxing retreat with original artwork and a sense of generosity.

From the street, door to a cobbled suntrap courtyard garden (table/chairs).

French windows into spacious open-plan living/dining/kitchen with beams, huge sofa, smart TV, iPod dock, and stylish kitchen area (dishwasher, combi microwave, fridge-freezer, electric Aga).

Downstairs loo (washer-drier).

Oak stairs (stairgates) up to two bedrooms – a beautiful double (4’ 8'' bed) with vaulted ceiling, and sumptuous en suite bathroom (suite, hand-shower and separate shower), and a neat twin (truckle, limited clothes-hanging space) with smart en suite shower-room (suite).

A fabulous cocooning cottage in this vibrant little town, a great base from which to explore the beauty of Dartmoor.

Chagford: lively, friendly little town (pubs, shops, outdoor swimming pool, tennis) away from main roads in the shelter of high Dartmoor.

Past it the River Teign (fishing) hurries through woods and meadows below Castle Drogo (National Trust).

Excellent walking; superb views.

Open moor, 2 miles; golf, 3; Exeter (city amenities), 17; sea/beaches, about 20.
