“The Stables is a sweet apartment accessed by some stone steps.”

It is all on one floor and is well equipped, maintained and clean. The drive way in and teh road in for for a few miles is really narrow roads and the hedges are overgrown at the minute so the car has quite a few branch scratches that need a good t-cut out. Thats nothing to do with the property but one to be aware of. The owners were lovely and chatty and left a welcome basket of goodies. The place is remote and so peace and quiet is guarentreed and a car is essential and its not that easy to ...

Thats nothing to do with the property but one to be aware of. The owners were lovely and chatty and left a welcome basket of goodies. The place is remote and so peace and quiet is guarentreed and a car is essential and its not that easy to wak anywhere from there on the roads. The internet was a nightmare when we were there and there was little to no internet for our stay, we had hoped to work from there but there was no chance of a that, and streaming for Netflix etc was impossible. We had our dog with us and although there is a little garden for you to use its not secure and so not ideal foe a dog. We did have a nice stay but given the above not one we would return to again.

Thanks for your feedback, we are glad you had a nice stay and it was good to meet you. You mention a few issues however: The internet was indeed a nightmare whilst you were here, for both you and us. Its back to normal now, but will be upgraded within the next two weeks to avoid any repitition of this. Most people who bring along their dogs take the opportunity of taking them for a walk either around our three acres of wider gardens or along the quarter of a mile farm track. Maybe your little puppy was too young for that? As for the Devon lanes, well if you want the peace and quiet you mention, then a bit of exploration is required. We are quite pleased that we can offer this whilst still being within a five minute drive of the main roads. Property Owner

About the location

ASHBURTON

Newton Abbot 8 miles; Torquay 17 miles; Plymouth 25 miles

The ancient Stannary town of Ashburton lies on the southern slopes of Dartmoor and is an ideal spot from which to explore the rugged high moors to the North and a beautiful coastline to the South. The scenery in this area of South Devon is glorious in all weathers and offers visitors opportunities for walking, pony trekking, canoeing, fishing and lazing on the beach. Ashburton has some interesting artisan shops and with its interesting history and museum, has built a reputation for its high standard of antiques and fine collectables outlets. It also has lovely tea rooms, a wine bar and a fantastic food deli providing fresh fish and olives. In the surrounding area, Dartmoor has many picturesque villages and hamlets with old thatched cottages and ancient churches, surrounded by a patchwork of fields and woodland. Lustleigh, North Bovey, Chagford and Widecombe- in- the- Moor are fine examples. The attractive seaside town of Teignmouth is a half hour drive and the popular Blackpool Sands, although a little further down the coast, is one of South Devon's most beautiful natural treasures. An award-winning privately managed 'Blue Flag' family beach with turquoise blue sea giving it an almost Mediterranean feel. So whether it is moor or coast that you’re seeking for your getaway, Ashburton is a really central town from which to be based.
