“We know the area very well and we have stayed in several of the cottages here now and as our favourite cottage was not available we chose this one.”

No 3 is extremely pretty and has all the amenities you could need. Unfortunately the fridge needs replacing as the door seal has perished and all of our salad froze and then turned to mush and had to be thrown away, I note another guest has mentioned this in the guest book back in April. The garden is listen as Private however it is not secure. The listing states an “unfenced stream” which I took to mean there was no fence in front of it so you could go straight in but it means the stream end onto the main road is unfenced which for us was a problem as it meant we couldn’t let our dog off in the garden with it being unsecured and also other dogs had used the garden as I had to pick up other dogs poop which was not ours. We made use of the enclosed front terrace instead which was delightful to sit and either have morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening and chat to neighbours. The cottage bedrooms are beautiful and light and airy although providing fans could be helpful in case of a heat wave (the recent one was unprecedented to be fair!) The living space is really lovely and thanks to Tracy the caretaker all of the holiday cottages in Newhall Green are impeccably clean. The owners are extremely kind as they allowed us to arrive in the dead of night the evening before to escape the heatwave and traffic of the M5 with our dog which was very much appreciated. The garden house is absolutely fabulous and the sauna although not needed in the heatwave is a great little addition. The bath is to die for and I love the dinky lights in the wall. I was also super happy we had a dishwasher! The cottage stayed very cool downstairs in the heatwave due to the thick walls and slate floors so that is also brilliant when you have a dog and need to keep them cool. The only reason we would not return is the lack of secured garden as we have a young dog who likes to explore and knows the area so I couldn’t trust him not to nip out at the bottom end but if this was secured we would gladly return year after year. If a secure garden is not high on your list of priorities this cottage is perfect for you to enjoy a beautiful family holiday in the most beautiful county in England!
