“On the surface the property looks beautiful on arrival as first impression count the dining area outside the dining table the varnish is peeling off the top the chairs weren’t placed over all an uninviting place to sit and have a nice meal especially as it’s the only outside space.”

The covered porch area in front of the house needed sweeping and there was a wooden chest and wooden bench that would be better removed and a nice table and chairs with a parasol as when it is hot there is no cover as the sun shines directly at the porch. The lounge is small but the furniture is to large for the space I would swap the dining area and lounge around as you have a log burner in the dining room which would make a great lounge off the kitchen. There are two bathrooms but only one toilet upstairs the shower in the first bathroom is a very small I’m 5ft and struggled to fit comfortably in so an average man would definitely struggle to fit in comfortably. The bed in the main bedroom was rock hard and the pillows were very uncomfortable. There is a garden out the back but hadn’t been landscaped which is a shame as the views from the top would be amazing. The scones and jam were a gesture but we were in Cornwall it would be nice to support the local community not Tesco scones and jam no thought.we only got two toilet rolls for the bathrooms and I’m sorry but I don’t expect too buy toilet rolls when I’ve paid to stay in a holiday home we have stayed in many holiday homes before and never had to buy. Unfortunately like I said it looks beautiful the decor is lovely but overall it needs more thought.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to leave a review sadly it’s extremely saddening that you’ve felt the need to leave such a negative response. I am happy to receive feedback in all forms, but wonder if perhaps your review is more to do with the fact we did not agree to your private message requesting free nights than it is to do with the disappointment of receiving a complimentary cream tea. I believe from other local hosts it’s not the first time you have tried this particular ploy. We are especially grateful for your landscaping feedback, an area strictly off limits to all guests due to the costs/hazards involved with renovating a 300 year old stone staircase but will kindly ask the other TWO outside areas to “try harder” at becoming a view. You are right to mention there is only one toilet upstairs… is there a reason you would have preferred another? Toilet rolls, coffee pods, tea, dishwasher/washing machine tablets, cream tea, lavender balm amongst other things are all provided to start your “self catering” holiday off with little need to venture out. Thank you for the interior design advice, your extensive stays in holiday homes I’m sure equips you with better knowledge on the subject than perhaps the homeowner, me, my wonderful team and every other guest we have gratefully hosted. A simple check in the cupboard would have furnished you with a variety of pillows plus a different mattress topper available if our mattress proved unsuitable. Or perhaps you could have asked Claire during your stay who would have been only too happy to assist. Finally, we wish you all the best in your continued search for accommodation that fulfils your every need, including furniture that politely adjusts itself to your preference. Warm regards, Management (currently sweeping the porch) Property Owner

About the location

PENTEWAN

St Austell 4 miles; Mevagissey 2 miles.

Pentewan is a delightful coastal village set back from the sandy expanse of Pentewan Beach. The village shop and pub draw visitors from far and wide, while the beach is good for children and a favourite with water sport enthusiasts. Dogs are only permitted on the beach between the first Sunday in November and the end of February, but dog walkers can enjoy the stunning woodland of the Pentewan Valley Trail, along with other beaches a short drive away. The coastal path passes through the village and as it climbs up the cliffside towards Mevagissey, the views across the bay toward Devon in the far distance are breath-taking. Good cycle paths pass close by and there is cycle hire available in the village. The nearby fishing village of Mevagissey offers many restaurants and fresh local fish. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Pinetum Gardens are both just a short drive away, while the Eden Project is within easy reach and well worth a visit.
